# Setting up payment methods

## Quick summary

In Settings → Payment methods, enable the methods you want to offer, grouped by type (card, bank transfer, direct debit, others, buy now pay later, external). Each method shows a setup status—ready or pending—until it's configured. Available methods depend on your region.

## Overview

Before customers can pay, you choose **how**. **Settings → Payment methods** is where you enable the methods relevant to your business and get each one ready.

## Enabling methods

Methods are grouped by type:

- **Debit/credit card**
- **Bank transfer**
- **Direct debit**
- **Others** (such as account-to-account methods and vouchers)
- **Buy now, pay later**
- **External payment** (record cash and off-platform payments)

Enable the ones you want to offer.

## Setup status

Each method shows a **setup status**—**ready** once configured, or **pending** while it still needs setup.

A method that's **pending** won't be available to customers until you complete its setup. Check the status shows **ready** before relying on it.

Availability is regional. PayID, PayTo, BECS and BSB/account are Australia-only; PIX and Boleto are Brazil-only; Wero/iDEAL is Europe-only.

Offer only the methods your customers actually use in their country—it makes checkout faster and reduces confusion. See the payment methods overview to choose.

## Frequently asked questions

### Where do I enable payment methods?

In Settings → Payment methods. You turn on the methods you want to offer; they're grouped by type such as card, bank transfer, direct debit, others, and buy now pay later.

### Why is a method showing as pending?

Each method has a setup status. 'Pending' means it still needs configuration before it's ready; once complete, it shows as ready.

### Which methods can I offer?

It depends on your account's region and currencies—for example PayID, PayTo, BECS and BSB/account are Australia-only, while PIX and Boleto are Brazil-only. Enable what's relevant to you.

### What is the External payment method?

A way to record payments made outside Qualy, such as cash. It's enabled like other methods but doesn't process money through Qualy.

### Do I need every method?

No—offer the ones your customers actually use. Fewer, relevant options make checkout faster.

### Can I turn a method off later?

Yes. You can enable or disable methods at any time as your needs change.
