Adding a new custom domain currently needs a request to Qualy rather than a button on this screen. You get one sender identity per account: set a name, a from address and a reply address, confirm the verification email, then add the DKIM and Return Path records Qualy shows you. ## Overview For a fully branded experience, your customers should see your domain and your email address, not a generic Qualy one. Both live under two **Advanced options** cards on this page, and both verify through your domain's DNS. ## Custom domains Qualy shows your custom domains here, along with the DNS records tied to each one. Adding a new domain is not currently self-serve from this screen — ask Qualy to add it for you, rather than looking for an **Add** button that is not there. ![The Custom domains and Sender identities cards, both showing their empty states](/images/training/settings/custom-domains-and-senders/01-custom-domains-page.png) Once a domain is added, this card shows the DNS records to enter with your domain's DNS provider: a **Record Type** and a **Value / Answer / Data / Destination** — worded that way because different providers label the same field differently. Until the records are added, the card shows **No DNS records available yet, come back later** instead of the values to add. ## Sender identities A **sender identity** is the address Qualy emails your customers from. You are limited to **one per account**, so this is not something to set up per team or per campaign — think of it as a single decision, not an ongoing setting. Click **Create new sender identity** and fill in a **Name**, **From email** and **Reply email**. **Recipient type** is fixed to **Used on emails to customers**, the only kind currently on offer. ![The create sender identity form filled in, with a live preview of the From field](/images/training/settings/custom-domains-and-senders/02-create-sender-identity.png) Qualy sends a confirmation email to the address you entered. The identity shows **Confirmation email sent** until that is confirmed, then **Confirmed**. Once confirmed, Qualy shows two DNS records to add: a **DKIM** TXT record and a **Return Path** CNAME record. Add both — if either is missing, a yellow **Ensure effective delivery** banner stays on the identity as a reminder, because without them your emails are more likely to be filtered as spam. Whoever manages your domain's DNS is the one who adds these records — you do not need Qualy support to do it once you have the values. The preview on the create form shows exactly how your email's "From" field will look before you save anything. Set up your sender identity before your first big batch of payment reminders. Emails from your own domain, properly authenticated, are far less likely to be filtered as spam than one from a shared address. ## Frequently asked questions ### Can I add a custom domain myself? Not from this screen right now — the option to add one yourself has been removed from the interface, so ask Qualy to add it for you. Once it is added, you add the DNS records with whoever manages your domain, and the domain verifies once they are in place. ### What is a sender identity? The address Qualy emails your customers from — your name and address, instead of a shared Qualy one. Creating one gives every payment reminder and receipt a "From" field your customers recognise. ### How many sender identities can I have? One per account. Qualy blocks a second one with the message 'You can only have one sender identity', so if you need to change your sending address, remove the existing identity first rather than trying to add another. ### How is a domain or sender verified? By adding DNS records to your domain, using whichever DNS provider you use for that domain. Qualy shows the exact record type and value to add, for both custom domains and sender identities. ### Why do sender identities need DNS records? To prove you own the address, and to make delivery reliable so your messages are not marked as spam. The DKIM and Return Path records are what mail providers check. ### How do I know it is working? A sender identity shows Confirmed once verified, or Confirmation email sent while that is outstanding. If it is confirmed but the DKIM or Return Path record is still missing, a yellow Ensure effective delivery banner stays on it as a reminder. ### Who adds the DNS records? Whoever manages DNS for your domain — that might be your IT team or your domain registrar's control panel.
