## Quick summary

Settings → Audit logs keeps a time-stamped record of activity in your account—the user, the action, when it happened, and the device, app and location it came from—so you can review changes, investigate issues and maintain accountability across your team.

## Overview

When several people work in one account, you'll occasionally need to ask "who changed this?" **Settings → Audit logs** answers it.

## What's recorded

Each entry captures **who** (the user), **what** (the action taken), and **when** (the date and time), along with the **device, app and location** it came from—browser, operating system and IP address. Entries are listed newest first, giving you a clear, reviewable history of changes.

## Why it matters

- **Accountability** across your team
- **Investigation** when something changed unexpectedly
- **Compliance** support through a record of activity

## Audit logs vs Activities & Traces

Qualy keeps two complementary histories, and it helps to know which to reach for:

- **Audit logs** (here, in Settings) record **account actions**—who signed in, who changed a setting, who edited a record—across your whole account.
- **Activities & Traces** (on a payment, payout or invoice) record the **money steps** behind that specific record—charged the customer, refunded, sent a payout, sent a reminder—each with detailed traces you can open and copy.

Use audit logs to answer "who changed this in our account?" and Activities & Traces to answer "what exactly happened to this money, step by step?"

Access to audit logs depends on **permissions**—typically administrators review them. See the users and permissions guide.

If a setting or record looks wrong, check the audit log before assuming a bug—often it's simply a recent change you can trace to a teammate and a reason.

## Frequently asked questions

### What do audit logs show?

A record of actions taken in your account—who did what and when—so you have a clear history of changes.

### Why are audit logs useful?

For accountability and investigation: if something changed unexpectedly, you can see who made the change and when.

### Where are they?

In Settings → Audit logs.

### Do logs help with compliance?

Yes—a record of actions supports compliance and internal controls.

### Can everyone see the logs?

Access depends on permissions. Typically administrators review audit logs.

### What does each entry show?

Each entry shows the user, the action taken, the date and time, and the device, app and location (such as browser, operating system and IP) it came from. Entries are listed newest first so recent activity is easy to find.

### How are audit logs different from Activities & Traces?

Both are real and they complement each other. Audit logs record account actions—who signed in or changed a setting—across your whole account. Activities & Traces sit on a payment, payout or invoice and record the money steps behind it (charged, refunded, payout sent) with detailed step-by-step traces. Use audit logs for account changes and Activities & Traces for what happened to a specific amount of money.
