## Quick summary

Qualy supports cards (Australian, international and Brazilian), account-to-account methods (PayID, BSB/account, Wero/iDEAL, PIX, Boleto), direct debit (PayTo, BECS and multi-currency), bank transfer, buy now pay later, and external/manual payments for things like cash. Which methods appear depends on where your customer is paying from and the currencies you collect. You turn methods on in Settings → Payment methods.

## Overview

Qualy supports a wide range of payment methods so your customers can pay the way that's easiest for them, wherever they are. The methods you see depend on your account's **region** and the **currencies** you collect—you switch them on in **Settings → Payment methods**.

This guide groups the methods by how they work.

## Cards

### Australian credit/debit card

Accept Visa, Mastercard and Amex in Australian Dollars. Confirmation is instant; funds typically arrive in a few days.

### International / multi-currency card

Accept Visa, Mastercard and Amex in a range of currencies. Ideal when customers pay from outside Australia. Confirmation is instant, and funds arrive in a few days.

### Brazilian credit/debit card

Accept Visa, Mastercard and Elo in Brazilian Reais. Brazilian customers can also choose to **pay in installments**—up to 18 monthly payments—while you still receive the full amount upfront.

> Cards are popular across the globe—easy and fast for the payer. Funds may take a few days to arrive in your account.

## Account-to-account methods

These move money straight from the customer's bank account, often instantly.

### PayID transfer (Australia)

An easy, instant way to receive payments. Qualy gives the customer a unique PayID so the incoming payment reconciles automatically.

### BSB/account number transfer (Australia)

The customer transfers to a unique BSB and account number. Easy, but slower than PayID. Because the account details are unique, payments reconcile automatically.

### Wero | iDEAL (Europe)

Instant account-to-account transfer using a phone number, email or IBAN.

### PIX (Brazil)

Brazil's instant payment method. The customer scans a QR code or copies a PIX code in their banking app.

### Boleto (Brazil)

A popular Brazilian payment slip. Funds may take a few days to arrive.

## Direct debit

Direct debit pulls funds automatically once the customer has authorised it—ideal for instalment plans.

### PayTo direct debit (Australia)

Real-time direct debit. The customer approves the PayTo agreement in their online bank; it supports PayID emails and phone numbers. Funds are usually available quickly.

### BECS direct debit (Australia)

The traditional Australian direct debit. Once the customer authorises it, Qualy captures each payment directly from their bank account.

### Multi-currency direct debit

Capture payments directly from a customer's bank account across supported currencies. Funds may take a few days to arrive.

Direct debit pairs perfectly with payment plans: set the plan once and each instalment is collected automatically on its due date.

## Bank transfer

The customer makes a normal bank transfer to pay. Popular for high-value, one-off payments, and available worldwide. Funds may be available quickly or in a couple of days.

## Buy now, pay later

In some countries, a **buy now, pay later** option lets the customer pay later or split the cost into a few instalments. You still get paid, and the customer gets the flexibility. See the financing guide for how this looks alongside card installments.

## External payments

Use **External payment** to record money received outside Qualy—such as cash, or a transfer the customer made directly to a partner. Nothing is processed through Qualy; it simply keeps your records complete and your reporting accurate.

Availability is regional. PayID, PayTo, BECS and BSB/account are Australia-only; PIX and Boleto are Brazil-only; Wero/iDEAL is Europe-only. Turn on what's relevant in Settings → Payment methods.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which payment methods does Qualy support?

Cards (Australian, international and Brazilian), PayID, BSB/account number transfer, PayTo direct debit, BECS direct debit, multi-currency direct debit, Wero/iDEAL, PIX, Boleto, bank transfer, buy now pay later, and external/manual payments for things like cash.

### Why don't I see all the methods?

Available methods depend on where your customer is paying from and the currencies you collect. For example, PayID, PayTo, BECS and BSB/account are Australia-only, while PIX and Boleto are Brazil-only. You enable the ones relevant to you in Settings → Payment methods.

### Which methods are instant?

PayID, PIX, Wero/iDEAL and PayTo are effectively instant. Cards usually confirm instantly but funds settle in a few days. BECS direct debit, bank transfer and Boleto take a little longer.

### What is the difference between PayTo and BECS direct debit?

Both pull money from the customer's bank account in Australia. PayTo is real-time and the customer approves the agreement in their banking app, supporting PayID emails and phone numbers. BECS is the traditional direct debit and is captured automatically once authorised.

### What is an external payment?

It's a way to record a payment that happened outside Qualy—such as cash, or a transfer the customer made directly to a partner. It keeps your records complete without processing money through Qualy.

### Who pays the processing fees?

By default, you (the account holder) cover the payment processing fees. You can choose to pass card fees on to the student—switch this on in your settings, and from then on the student pays those fees at checkout.

### Can the customer pay in a different currency than I price in?

Yes. Qualy can collect in the customer's currency and settle to you in yours; an exchange rate (and any markup you set) is applied. See the currency exchange guides.
